My friend, Robin, is an amazingly talented self-taught baker. Not only do her baked-surprises taste like heaven, but they look beautiful and snazzy, too! Her kitchen is like her tiny little bakery. We used to work together at Roxy and she would bring in her creations to work – a lovely way to sweeten up our afternoons! Love you, Robin xo!
How did you first become interested in baking?
I can’t really remember, I just remember loving it and always wanting to bake with my grandmas and mom. When I was younger my favorite things to bake were blueberry muffins and chocolate chip cookies…. I guess my baking just took off from there!
Where/how do you learn to improve your baking skills? Favorite baking show?
Hmmm, well practice makes perfect! I bake often and try new recipes all the time. I took a cake decorating class about a year ago through the local community center, but I have learned most of what I know from my mom and grandma (and they thought I was never listening ). Can’t say I have a favorite baking show, it’s interesting to watch sometimes, but I don’t have much time for tv so I rely on google searches.
What are a few of your favorite items to bake?
Chocolate chip cookies, it’s a classic and never gets old.
What did you bake last weekend?
how did you know? I just baked chocolate chip cookies last night, was hanging out with my family in the kitchen and all of a sudden we had yummy cookies….baking seems like a lot less work with other people around : ). The weekend before Valentines Day I baked cookies for my family and co-workers. They were conversation heart cookies with a twist. It was a sugar cookie sandwich with a cake pop filling, the cookies even had little messages like “txt me” and “cutie”. They were fun but a lot more work than I had anticipated.
Favorite recipe to share? Or are they all top-secret?
I’m going to have to go with top secret ; )
